This Second Level Course in “Multimedia Design” is the first Master of Arts in central/southern Italy to fully embrace this complex area of studies. It was created in order to address the increasingly central role played by digital technologies and techniques in the design of multimedia spaces and works: a very wide-ranging field that includes cultural projects and events, the regeneration of urban areas, virtual set design, constructing the visual scene for large public spaces, and advanced retail. The Course offers a response of educational excellence to the very high demand for designers with the ability to work in these sectors, who combine the creative culture of the designer with the skills of the expert in new technologies.

Within the process of designing constructed spaces, both indoor and outdoor, the Course in “Multimedia Design” gives participants the tools they will need in order to be able to identify the role of multimedia in relation to the particular functional requirements and environmental conditions of each project.
 In operational terms, the teaching methods are designed to enable participants to acquire knowledge of advanced tools for design representation, and to take possession of the necessary technical solutions and methodological procedures. The subjects taught include, amongst others, multimedia design, audiovisual performance, multimedia installations, exhibition design, videomapping techniques, interactive installations, and virtual and augmented reality.

The aim of the Course is to prepare highly specialised design professionals who plan to enter the industries of art and culture, entertainment, interior design, and multimedia communication, where they will be designing and implementing projects such as multimedia installations, interactive sound environments, audiovisual performances, virtual sets, videomapping, etc. The main objective of the Course is to respond to the new artistic and cultural context by giving participants access to many of the skills that the creative industries require, and by training new types of professional: the multimedia artist, the designer of interior fit-outs and installations, the technician specialised in the field of museum exhibition design, and the expert in multimedia representation and communication.

Academy Degrees are equivalent to Master’s university degrees.
